Guided tour "On the Provenance of Ten Cultural Goods from the Pays Dogon (Republic of Mali)"

Venue:
Humboldt Forum, Ethnologisches Museum, 2. OG (Meeting Point F)

The researchers Dr. Bourahima OuedraogoAkognon Amougnon Dolo from Mali and Heidrun Mezger from Germany will present an insight into the ongoing project “On the Provenance of Ten Cultural Goods from the Pays Dogon (Republic of Mali) in the Collection of the Ethnologisches Museum Berlin”: How did the project come about? What challenges does it face? What are the initial results?

The provenance research project, funded by the German Lost Art Foundation, is a cooperation between the Ethnologisches Museum Berlin and the Musée national du Mali. The project members invite interested exhibition visitors to discuss, based on large-format images, among other aspects, the origin, age, possible former functions, changes of ownership, and appropriation contexts of the cultural belongings studied.

Admission is free. The tour will be conducted in German.

Time: 5-6 p.m.
