Interim report on Andreina Schwegler-Torré published

The art dealer’s life stages, trading networks and business strategies have been systematically reconstructed for the first time.

The Coordination Centre for Provenance Research in North Rhine-Westphalia (KPF.NRW) has published an interim report on the art dealer Andreina Schwegler-Torré (1908–1991). The outcome of an eight-month research project made possible through funding provided by the German Lost Art Foundation, the publication is available free of charge on arthistoricum.net. With a foreword by former Executive Chair Gilbert Lupfer, the interim report presents the first ever systematic reconstruction of Schwegler-Torré’s life stages, trading networks and business strategies. In addition to biographical analyses, key sources and documents are made accessible. The publication summarises the current state of research and identifies unresolved questions as a basis for further provenance research.

Entitled Die Kunsthändlerin Andreina Schwegler-Torré. Eine “Porzellanjongleuse“ zwischen den Systemen des 20. Jahrhunderts – Ein Werkstattbericht“ [The art dealer Andreina Schwegler-Torré. A ‘porcelain juggler’ between the systems of the 20th century – An interim report], the publication is available for download at: https://doi.org/10.11588/artdok.00009743

An accompanying event featuring a panel discussion on the challenges of provenance research in the field of porcelain is planned for the summer. The date and venue will be announced shortly.
