Jasmin Hartmann takes over as head of the Koordinationsstelle für Provenienzforschung in NRW
Art historian Jasmin Hartmann becomes the head of the newly founded Koordinationsstelle für Provenienzforschung in NRW (KPF.NRW). She thereby shoulders responsibility for the development and establishment of the state-wide contact point, which, in future, will advise, support and network art and cultural heritage preserving institutions such as museums, archives and libraries in all questions regarding provenance research. Most recently, Hartmann headed the Provenance Research Unit of the state capital of Düsseldorf. “In Jasmin Hartmann, we have gained a proven expert in the field of provenance research to head the new coordination office. With her wealth of relevant experience, she brings with her the best attributes for establishing the KPF.NRW firmly in the cultural landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia as a central networking and advisory structure for all questions relating to the loss of cultural assets,” says Minister of Culture and Science Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen.
About the KPF.NRW
KPF.NRW was founded in 2020 by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia together with the Landschaftsverband Rheinland and Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe, and will begin its work on January 1, 2022. The KPF.NRW will be located in Bonn at the LVR-LandesMuseum and will function as a central coordination point where information on the topic of provenance research in North Rhine-Westphalia will be collected and made visible. The goals include delivering greater transparency with regard to research results and the improved networking of institutions and research projects. This coordination office will also advise and network cultural institutions. In addition to seizures resulting from Nazi persecution, the focus of work will also be on cultural property losses during the former Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ) and the German Democratic Republic (GDR), as well as the colonial period. In addition to Jasmin Hartmann as director, the KPF.NRW team consists of the art historians Dr. Dagmar Thesing and Miriam Cockx. Two volunteers, Isabelle Christiani and Lucia Seiß, will be supporting the work of KPF.NRW.
